Yuka Chocomoo

I want to introduce you to one of my favourite artists, Yuka Chocomoo.  A Japanese artist whose work is gaining great popularity in both Asia and the West.  Her individual style sets her apart from other contemporary artists, making her work so easy to identify.

Here's why I love her:  I am a big fan of anything black & white, when I first found Chocomoo I read that she sees everything in black & white in her mind.  Her distinct style of black & white cartoons effortlessly fit into every corner of her canvas.  What looks like senseless scribble is obviously someone with a great understanding of composition.

Her live drawings show just how easily she can illustrate her imagination across the page.  That kind of freedom of flow is something I struggle with so I completely envy her talent.  In my opinion, her interpretation of iconic images and people are second to none.

I appreciate how much she loves art.  It's evident in both her profession, duh, and how she dresses.  Even her clothes represent her art - some of the outfits she wears are customised by herself with her art. Then comes her collaboration with mega-cool clothing brand Joyrich - Joyrich x Chocomoo.

So anyways, check out Chocomoo and her art for yourself.  Google her or visit her blog and for the instagram-ers you can check out her page @yukachocomoo.
